Pump up the jam: Lezyne CNC Travel Floor Drive

We were looking for a sturdy, quality MTB pump, compact and light enough to accompany us on flights in a bike case or even as a carry-on package. Encouraged by many very positive reviews we took a closer look at Lezyne's extensive range of pumps and finally decided to give a try to their CNC Travel Floor Drive.

Lezyne is known for its slick looking pumps and other biking accessories. CNC Travel Floor Drive is anodized, high-polish aluminum pump that comes in a protective canvas bag. With its flip thread chuck, the pump is compatible both with Presta and Schrader valves. The pump measures to 508 x 190 x 60mm and weighs 840g according to Lezyne.

CNC Travel Floor Drive is really beautifully crafted. It is very sturdy and feels well made. We managed to inflate a set of tubeless MTB tires with the pump despite its lower output than its full size siblings.

CNC Travel Floor Drive may just be the ultimate travel pump...
We have been using the pump only for a few weeks now and so far are very happy with it. With its flat profile the pump doesn't take much room in a bike case, making it a very attractive travel pump. While it's all too early to say anything about its long term durability, its construction certainly doesn't make us doubtful about its quality. Compared to, for example, popular Joe Blow pumps Lezyne certainly feels more robust. As often, however, this level of attention to detail does not come for free. Luckily, those not willing to pay extra for eye-candy and lighter weight, there is a cheaper version (Steel Travel Floor Drive, 1.1kg) available from Lezyne.

Finally, remember that this really is a compact travel pump. While effective for its size, it would not be our first choice when the size is not a critical factor. For use in our garage we would look at, for example, Lezyne Floor Drive or Dirt Floor Drive. But for its intended purpose CNC Travel Floor Drive may just be the ultimate pump you have been looking for.
